To carry out a topographical survey in order to design a leachate rising main pipeline, by producing longitudinal sections of the rising main, to ensure adequate depth of soil cover for the pipeline along the route.

Area.
The survey initially comprised of carriageway & verges to highway boundary, some 40,000 sq m completed within
click for larger picture four days using two teams. The client required a high level of detail to enable a fully comprehensive design. We have since revisited on three occasions to extend and add to the original survey.

Product.
The survey was supplied in digital 3D format for use with PDS design software. We have revisited and extended the site as design requirements changed. The final survey was linked to a previous survey of the settlement reservoir (supplied by the client).
Method.
Conventional Survey methods were used. Substantial tree canopy cover and vegetation along the route made the job unsuitable for GPS.

All our surveyors are equipped with digital cameras. Site photographs provide a visual record, useful to both client and surveyor.

Clients requirements.
To establish location of the internal structural walls of two decommissioned water reservoirs together with a full site survey of the area, including carriageway.

click for larger picture To establish the location of the internal structural walls full topographical survey of three covered reservoirs (one still active)and surrounding properties was required. Internal dimensions were assessed by a specialised contractor.  
The internal walls of the disused reservoir were surveyed as well as surrounding properties, positioned accurately with detail surveyed on the surface. Existing operational buildings on site were included on the topographical survey.               back..

Requirement
New pedestrian route across narrow traffic controlled bridge, providing access for staff working at a large industrial estate.
Date: Summer 2001 and Spring 2002
Full site survey of carriageway across a narrow brick built bridge and the adjacent embankments, woods, and playing fields.

The site was revisited and extended to provide more detail information of adjacent land, to enable our client to design a new footpath close to the road, plans being submitted to the local authority for approval.    
Banbury Lane SITE SURVEY
